UFC on Versus 3 takes place on Thursday, March 3, 2011 from Louisville, Kentucky. The main event is a matchup between Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez and Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann. Two preliminary card matchups will be aired for free live on the UFC’s fan page on Facebook. In order to view these fights for free all you have to do is “like” the UFC’s official fan page on Facebook.
The event in General is not a star studded one which would usually turn an average MMA fan from tuning in but it is these types of cards that feature lesser known fighters that always prove to be the most entertaining.

Main Card Analysis and Predictions:
Brian Bowles (8-1-0) vs. Damacio Page (12-5-0)
Since the merger of the UFC and WEC, the UFC has been cutting fighters left and right, and one of these two fighters could be the next with a pink slip if they are unable to deliver a victory. Both fighters are coming off losses but have faced one another before. The previous match ended in a first round submission victory for Bowles. Both fighters are very well rounded, but I expect Page to come out very aggressive and look for the fight to remain on the feet. This will feed right into Bowles’s game plan and I expect him to be the better striker of the two. (Winner: Brian Bowles by 2nd rd. TKO)
Alessio Sakara (19-7-0 1-NC) vs. Chris Weidman (4-0-0)
Alessio Sakara welcomes UFC newcomer Chris Weidman to the octagon. Stylistically Weidman is the type of fighter who should give Sakara trouble because of his wrestling background. However, I expect the newcomer to get some octagon jitters and fall into Sakara’s trap and stand and bang with the phenomenal striker. If Weidman proves me wrong and utilizes his wrestling he should be affective but cannot forget that the Veteran Sakara has a very good Jiu-jitsu game. 2 of Sakara’s 3 victories in the octagon have been 1st round knockouts and that’s exactly how I expect this fight to finish. (Winner: Alessio Sakara by 1st rd. TKO)
Co-Main Event: CB Dolloway (12-3-0) vs. Mark Munoz (9-2-0)
This fight is a complete toss-up between two guys who are stylistically very similar. Both fighters are tremendous wrestlers but Munoz is the better striker while Dolloway has the better jiu-jitsu skills. This fight will be determined by the guy who can better utilize their secondary skills. Look for Munoz to test his wrestling and see how often Dolloway looks for the subsmissions. Ultimately Munoz’s strength will be just too much for Dolloway and I see him grinding out the split decision win. (Winner: Mark Munoz by Split Decision)
Main Event: Diego Sanchez (24-4-0) vs. Martin Kampann (17-4-0)
Martin Kampmann is a fighter who is known for his tremendous knockout power but is often overlooked when it comes to his ground game. Kampmann’s submission game is very good and Sanchez needs to be very careful if he looks to take this fight to the ground. Diego has not looked the same since his loss at the hands of BJ Penn. His decision to move up to welterweight has resulted in a 1-1-0 record. Sanchez’s previous two opponents gave him quite the challenge but neither possesses the skills that Kampmann has. Sanchez really needs to step his game up if he plans on continuing fighting in the UFC, that is why I expect him to come out really aggressively like he did against Clay Guida but needs to remain super careful of Kampmann’s striking abilities. Ultimately Kampann will just be too much for Sanchez to handle and I look for Kampmann to end this fight somewhere in the 2nd round. (Winner: Martin Kampmann by 2nd rd. Submission)
Enjoy the fights
