College Football Preview (Week #6)

Ohio State QB, Braxton Miller on the run
Week 5 of the 2013 NCAA Football season had some great games, which had the Georgia Bulldogs beat up on the LSU Tigers at home in Georgia. The Oklahoma Sooners improved to 4-0 with a massive win over Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Ohio State came out with a win in the Saturday evening tilt with BIG 10 rivals, Wisconsin, which improved their record to 5-0. Week 5 also saw the Alabama Crimson Tide shut out their SEC rivals, Ole Miss by a score of 25-0.
Week 6 of the 2013 schedule has some great games to watch out for and here are a few of those games that look very promising.
#25 Maryland Terrapins vs. #8 Florida State Seminoles
The Maryland Terrapins are coming into this game with a 4-0 record with their last win coming against West Virginia where they laid a 37-0 beat down on them.  Led by their dynamic QB C.J. Brown and sophomore WR Stefon Diggs, Maryland brings a very balanced attack to the field each and every week. They have flown under the radar of the nation, as they sit at 4-0.
The Florida State Seminoles are coming of a 48-34 win over Boston College last weekend, where they also improved their record to 4-0. Led by their flashy freshman QB Jameis Winston, who has thrown for 1053 yard and 12 touchdowns, and WR Kenny Shaw, the Seminoles offence has been terrorizing opposing defenses every week. This great ACC match up should make for a very entertaining game.
Look for Florida State and that high-powered offence to try and wear down the highly ranked Terrapins defense and keep C.J. Brown and the Maryland offence off the field.
If the Terrapins want to come out on top in this game, they will need their defense to come up big and limit the Florida State offence to as little yardage as possible.

Game Details: Kickoff on Saturday at 12:00pm at Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.
#22 Arizona State Sun Devils vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The Arizona State Sun Devils are coming off of a 62-41 win last weekend against the USC Trojans, which saw them improve their overall record to 3-1 with their only loss coming two weeks ago against the Stanford Cardinal. Led by Junior QB Taylor Kelly , RB Mario Grice and WR Jaelen Strong, the Sun Devils offence has been firing on all cylinders and carving up opposing defenses.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are coming off of a tough 31-21 loss last weekend at home to Oklahoma. Their overall record is now 3-2 and they have fallen out of the nation’s Top 25 rankings for the first time this season. Notre Dame can’t really afford to lose another game this season, as they have already lost two games and they’re coming off a season which saw them make it to the National Championship as they went undefeated. If they want to be successful this weekend against Arizona State, they will need to rely heavily on QB Tommy Rees to kick-start that offence so they can put some points on the board early and keep that potent ASU offense off the field.
If the Sun Devils want to come out with a win this weekend, they will need their offense to keep up the good work and remain efficient; however, they will also need their defense to step up and bring a ton of pressure to try and force Tommy Rees to make tough decisions in the pocket.
Game Details: Kick off on Saturday at 7:30pm at AT&T Stadium in South Bend, Indiana.
#4 Ohio State Buckeyes vs. #16 Northwestern Wildcats
The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming into this game with a 5-0 record with their latest win coming last weekend against the Wisconsin Badgers, where they won by a score of 31-24. Led by Junior QB Braxton Miller and explosive RB Jordan Hall, the Buckeyes look like they can give any team in the nation a run for their money.
The Northwestern Wildcats are coming into this game with a 4-0 record with their last win coming over Maine. Led by QB’s Kain Colter, Trevor Siemian and RB Treyvon Green, the Wildcats offence ranks within the top 35. If they want to come close to winning this game, they will need to play a perfect game of football on both sides of the ball. They will need their offence to come out firing on all cylinders and they will need their defense to put as much pressure on Buckeye QB Braxton Miller in order to train to contain that deadly Ohio State attack.
Look for the Ohio State defense to come up and make some big stops against the Wildcats as well as try to force them into making mistakes.
Game Details: Kickoff on Saturday at 8:00pm at Ryan Field in Evanston, Illinois.
#15 Washington Huskies vs. #5 Stanford Cardinal
The Washington Huskies are coming off of a 31-13 win against their PAC-12 rivals , the Arizona Wildcats. With that win, Washington now sits at 4-0 and are coming into this game with the nation’s 5thranked overall offence. Led by Senior QB Keith Price and Junior RB Bishop Sankey, the Huskies are looking to roll into Northern California and give the Cardinal a run for their money.
Stanford is coming into this game with a 4-0 record with their latest win coming over the Washington State Cougars by the score 55-17. Led by QB Kevin Hogan, who continues to improve more and more every week, and RB Tyler Gaffney, the Cardinals have the ability to effectively run the ball and pass the ball against any defense in the nation. If they want to be successful this weekend against the Huskies, they will need their very stout and athletic defense to have a great game by creating pressure and forcing Keith Price to make tough decisions.
If Washington wants to be effective against the Cardinals, they will have to rely on their offence to control the pace of the game and put up as many points as possible all by minimizing the amount of mistakes they make.
Game Details: Kickoff on Saturday at 10:30pm at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California.
