College Football Preview (Week #13)

Northern Illinois QB Jordan Lynch
Last week in week 12 of the 2013 NCCA Football Season there were some great games across the board, which made for a fantastic week of games.
The Georgia Bulldogs lost a heartbreaker to the Auburn Tigers by the score of 43-38 on a last second Hail Mary pass from Auburn’s QB, Nick Marshall.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys went into Austin and handed the Longhorns a hefty 38-13 loss.
Staying in the BIG 12, the Texas Tech Red Raiders marched into Waco, Texas to tangle with the Baylor Bears where they were blown out by a score of 63-34.
On the west coast, the USC Trojans played host to the Stanford Cardinal as they upset their PAC 12 rivals by a score of 20-17.
The 2013 regular season is nearing its end and games are becoming more and more important each week.
In week 13 there are some fantastic conference match-ups that are sure to make for great games. Here are some of this week’s biggest games to watch out for.
#9 Texas A&M Aggies vs. #18 LSU Tigers
The Aggies are coming off of a bye in week 12 in which they used to prepare for their match-up against a very talented LSU team. Two weeks ago the Aggies played host to the Mississippi State Bulldogs where they won a shootout by the score of 51-41 and improved to 8-2 on the season. QB Johnny Manziel, WR Mike Evansand RB Ben Malena lead the very explosive Texas A&M offence.
The LSU Tigers are also coming off of a week 12 bye in which they used to prepare for Manziel and company as well as heal from a tough week 11 loss against the SEC rivals, the Alabama Crimson Tide. QB Zach Mettenberger, RB Jeremy Hill, WR’s Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landrylead a balanced LSU offence.
If the Tigers want to come out on top in this game, their defense will have to try their very best to neutralize Johnny Manziel and that potent Aggie offence and keep them off the field. However, they will need to put up points as well, they cannot come out with a conservative offence game plan, they must come out and try to score early and often.
If this game turns into another SEC shootout, the advantage would go to the Manziel and Aggies. This match-up is sure to make for a great game.
Game Details: Kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 3:30pm at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
#19 Arizona State Sun Devils vs. #14 UCLA Bruins
Last Saturday evening, the Sun Devils hosted their PAC 12 foes, the Oregon State Beavers and came out with a victory by a score of 30-17 and improved their overall record to 8-2 on the season. QB Taylor Kelly, RB Marion Grice, WR’s Jaelen Strong and D.J. Foster lead the Arizona State offensive attack.
Last weekend, the UCLA Bruins hosted the Washington Huskies and earned a victory by beating the PAC 12 foes by a score of 41-31 as they improved their record to 8-2 on the season. QB Brett Hundley, converted LB into RB, Myles Jack and WR Shaquelle Evans lead the Bruins on offence.
If the Bruins want to come out on top in this PAC 12 tilt and avoid the upset at the hands of the Sun Devils, they will need their offence to continue from where they left off last week against the Huskies and put up as many points as possible against a very good Arizona State Defense.
If the Sun Devils want to upset UCLA, they will need to keep the Brett Hundley and the UCLA offence off the field for as long as possible. Look for the Arizona State defense to try and win the battle in the trenches and pressure Hundley into making poor decisions on offence.
Game Details: Kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:00pm at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
#8 Missouri Tigers vs. #24 Ole Miss Rebels
The Tigers are coming off of a week 12-bye week after they earned a solid 48-17 win over the Kentucky Wildcats in week 11 and improved their overall record to 9-1 on the season. Freshman QB Maty Mauk, WR L’Damian Washington, RB’s Henry Josey and Russell Hansbrough lead a very stout Missouri offence.
Last Saturday the Ole Miss Rebels hosted the Troy Trojans and earned a victory by beating their opponents by a score of 51-21, as they improved their record to 7-3 on the season. QB Bo Wallace, RB Jeff Scott, WR’s Donte Moncrief and Ja-Mes Logan lead the Rebels on the offensive side of the ball.
If the Rebels want to have any shot at winning this game and upsetting the Tigers, they will need QB Bo Wallace to lead that offence to a near perfect game without any turnovers and as many scoring drives as possible. They will also need all the help they can get from their defense as they hope to contain the Tigers offence and limit the amount of points the score.
Look for Missouri to come out strong early and put up as many points as possible in order to the Rebels at bay.
Game Details: Kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:45pm at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi.
#3 Baylor Bears vs. #11 Oklahoma State Cowboys
Last weekend the Baylor Bears went into Waco, Texas to do battle with their BIG 12 rivals, the Texas Tech Red Raiders where they won big by a score of 63-34 and improved to 9-0 on the season. QB Bryce Petty, RB Shock Linwood, WR’s Antwan Goodley and Tevin Reese lead a very potent Baylor offensive attack.
Oklahoma State Cowboys went into Austin last week to play the Longhorns of Texas where they won by a score of 38-13 and improved their record to 9-1 on the season. QB Clint Chelf, RB Desmond Roland and WR Josh Stewart lead the Cowboys on the offensive side of the ball.
If the Cowboys want to upset the Bears at home, it will take everything they have on both offence and defense, they will need their defense to step up and have the best game of the season and hope they can slow down the vicious Baylor offence. The Cowboys will need to score as many points as possible as often as they can because if it comes down to a shootout, they simply cannot keep up with the Bears.
Look for Baylor to come out fast and furious as they look to bury Oklahoma State early and pull away.
Game Details: Kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 8:00pm at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
